Everyone knows this, but you’d be surprised by how easy it is to become dehydrated on a hot summer day, especially when combined with athletic activity (such as Hoopfest) or the consumption of alcohol. This weekend pay attention to your body, if you’re thirsty, drink some water! Try to consume foods that are high in water, such as fruits (watermelon and oranges are great options), salads and even soup. If you’re playing make sure to rehydrate after games and start hydrating NOW!
Make a Game Plan – Official Map
With HoopFest being one of Spokane’s biggest events, most roads downtown will be closed. Understanding this and making a calculated plan in regards to transportation and parking will allow for less stress and more time at the courts. Take a look at this year’s street closures or the Spokane Transit HoopFest Map to plan out where you’ll park and what shuttle you might take to downtown. Search out Shade
Due to the nature of Hoopfest, the blazing sun and open exposure can make even a sitting spectator exhausted after a couple hours. Look for places to set up a chair in the shade and remove yourself from direct exposure. And even though you’re out of the sun, hydration is still key!
For the best basketball at HoopFest, check out the Center Courts. These special courts are outfitted with nice bleachers, a great court surface and are always packed with amazing basketball. From legends to rising stars and even a dunk competition, don’t miss out. And while you’re there, check out the HoopFest store for custom HoopFest Nike gear!
The Alumni Game
Gonzaga vs. University of Washington, the Pacific Northwest basketball rivalry. This meeting will be a little different compared to last Fall’s matchup. This time it’s the Alumni, and they’re going at it Friday night in the Spokane Arena. You won’t want to miss this legendary Alumni basketball game!
